AConcordCarpenter.com – Featuring Tacoma and Pittsburgh Boot – April 30, 2012

April 30th, 2012 · Industrial

How did these Boots Hold Up?

Six weeks on construction job sites and these two boots are just getting started.

Both boots proved to be durable and comfortable although it seemed that the Tacoma took a bit longer to break in. Six weeks into this review and my Tacoma boots are just starting to feel broken in. Chris related that his Pittsburgh boots felt broken in on week two.

While I didn’t weigh these two boots the Pittsburgh is the lighter of the two.

Overall Impression:

I was very impressed and still can’t believe that the company that makes the most comfortable sandals now makes a PRO rated work boot. From the sole to stitching to the laces these boots are a game changer on the job site. The ankle support and durability of these boots will serve anyone in the trades well.

FootwearPlusMagazine.com – Featuring KEEN’s Local Manufacturing Practices – April 2012

April 17th, 2012 · Brand, Industrial

Born In the USA

As Chinese labor shortages continue to be a source of woe and materials and shipping costs skyrocket, a growing number of manufacturers are bringing production back home, answering both logistical needs and an increasing demand for made-in-the-U.S.A. merchandise.

(…)

Portland, OR-based Keen took a similar approach to quality control and logistics when it decided to build its men’s work boot, the Portland PR. As Utility Division Director Mark Reilly says, “Because we’re closer to the production, we’re much better able to manage quality in our process than if the boots were being produced overseas.”

IMPO – Featuring Portland PR – Feburary 13th, 2012

February 13th, 2012 · Industrial

Built in the U.S.A., the men’s Portland PR boots from KEEN (Portland, OR) stand up to shards of glass, jagged metals, and even nails. The puncture resistant midsole plates are paired with lightweight asymmetrical aluminum toes for added protection. Waterproof full-grain leather is supple and flexible while 3M reflective piping adds additional safety visibility in low-light conditions. The waterproof, breathable membrane and Dri-Lex lining provide air circulation and waterproof protection, wicking moisture away and keeping feet cool and dry in the wettest environments. The Portland PR also features an oil and slip-resistant non-marking rubber outsole and meets ANSI standards for electrical hazard protection from open circuits, making this boot perfect for industrial jobs that require safety footwear that goes the extra mile.
